Where did 2020 go?

Let’s Play Catch Up

It’s still 2020 bare with me……

I mean really there is not one person who doesn’t know what I mean, we have literally been in hibernation most of the year due to that unwanted visitor known as covid. This virus has had such an impact on not only our economy but individuals and families as well. I mean it is really something mind blowing if you ask me. Drifting all the way back to march and here we are bringing in the fall still engaged in wearing masks for protection. I’d like to refer to it only as that because it is certainly not for comfort. Anyway there goes my summer but I do have hope that maybe the fall will be better and when it becomes cold people may not go out as much aside from work and survival like food and toiletries.

Me and Kids

(Where is the laughing emojii?)

On the the other hand my kids have been driving me nuts and I know that some moms will say it’s not that bad, but lock yourself in a house with my kids and you will be ready to give them back. I’m just kidding they are not misbehaved but just really energetic I guess I better work out and keep up lol. Last year we became really interested in plants, but this year we really got the chance to become plant parents. On that note I figured this would be the best time to instill responsibility. Teaching a child responsibility is easy but for some odd reason getting them to follow a watering schedule is hard work. Doing breathing exercises the whole way to my room to scream into a pillow. Yeah sometimes it’s like that.

Education Virtual

Ahhh good ol Virtual….(sarcastic punch)

With school approaching I am blowing my lid and I am feeling very overwhelmed and drained, but it hasn’t even started yet. Odd right. Not so much for this year because we are virtual, I mean how bad can it be. If your not internet savvy you will be when it is all over and done. I will be honest I am more so worried about my girls going back to school because my eldest has chronic asthma. Just the thought of it makes me really anxious. If they had to go back to school within the structure I mean, my daughter wouldn’t be going. I am not against parents sending their children to school because that is there right. Not really my business to tell another woman how to be a mom but that’s just me. I just know that my littles will not be going. My middle daughter will be going into kindergarten this year and I couldn’t be happier, I do wish that the circumstances were different. Maybe 2021 will be better because I know the kids do miss that social interaction with friends.

House Guests?

We have new house guests and by guests yes I mean more than one. Was that the plan initially when we embarked on this journey, nope but s*** happens and who am I to say no? I was in the market for a cat and or kitten, preferably a kitten though I love how small and loving they are. Anyway I found one or so I thought and I became really excited because it was like this cat just found me. As I was speaking to the gentleman about the cat he said can you take both. My husband and I both look at each other in surprise asking if either had seen the other cat. No we both mouthed to each other, but in reality we actually did see the other cat but had simply overlooked her because she blended in. She is grey and the cat that we saw was white, instantly looking at the picture the first cat that would have caught anyone’s attention is the brighter one. Honest mistake but guess what we did? We brought both of them home and they couldn’t be happier. I have a dog so right now we are trying to get them comfortable enough to be around one another.

Fingers crossed.

Until Tomorrow….

All in all I think that this has been an experience for us all because we were faced with an issue that we ourselves couldn’t control. The good thing that did come from this would be that we got to spend time with the ones that we love. I know we have had our good and bad days throughout this experience but we are conquering this. 2020 will be over before you know it but not before we get through my favorite time of the year and we are just getting started.

Hello Fall!

Dear quarantine, I’ve Lost Count

Forever Cautious

I thought that just to be safe if we did go to a trail it would have to be a trail with not a lot of people. So i’m thinking well because all this caous is going on with covid the trails would be scarce. Obviously I was wrong, and o we ended up going to two trails. When we arrived at the first one I felt it was too crowded and I am all about protecting my little’s. I decided we can just go to another one no biggie. Luckily I remembered this little trail nestled within my neighborhood that is safe enough for kids. So that is where we went, and the kids loved it.

Let it Soar

As we explored the park I could see the excitement and curiousity all over there faces. Then you look at me and I have this like stuck confused plastered look on my face because I’m in mommy survival mode. I had to learn the hard way that everything doesn’t have to be so serious. I did encourage them to explore different things that I knew would not be harmful to them. We had a chance to learn about Rocks, Rivers, and Creeks.

Covid Nature says You Suck!

I mean this is really beginning to suck. Being cooped up in the house for fear of getting sick. This pandemic has really hit below the belt. Now as we sit around waiting for some good news we have to be proactive. For us who has children we have to be twice that. In the beginning I had huge ideas that we can do being as though I thought this would be over soon. I soon found that out the hard way as I’m sure many of us did. Being as though I am a nature mind and I love taking nature and wildlife photography I decided that we should incorporate trails in our day. We normally commit to doing these anyway because our kids love them and me too.

Safe Trails?

Are trails safe right now with covid going on? Yes, I mean it’s simply you being out in nature no playgrounds or anything. Not unless you are expecting to be sneezed on by a tree. I think your good to go.

Exercise and Education?

Triumphant

Being as though kids are no in school this is an awesome way to tie science and physical education together. I always up for a two for one deal.

There is nothing wrong with a little nature run. At the end of this road with be much more fun.

Trying Something New You Cantu

Okay you got me sometimes I do tend to have little surprises up my sleeve every now and again. All jokes aside I’m not much of a hair mom but I’ve been learning a great deal about hair since I have been quarantined. I always like to conversate with moms about different hair products and their experiences. I mean who doesn’t that’s how you learn neat new tricks and great products for natural hair. Not sharing should generally be against the law but who am I to say. Anyway that’s neither here nor there don’t you want to hear about this awesome new product that I have come across?

A journey to Moisture

I used to hear people talk all the time about deep conditioning your hair in which I shrugged off. I didn’t think anything of it because it’s not a common item I use. Then again i’m not one of those moms with beautician skills. I simply just don’t posses them what so ever. So it was something that just didn’t appeal to me. As of late I have grown curious as to how I can get my girls hair to grow. So I started try new things and a deep conditioner is one of them.

Apply Here

When it comes to actually going through with this it’s quite simple. I mean if you actually read the directions. Unfortunately I am normally one of those people who don’t read the directions. Don’t worry always on my head never my little’s. Applying this product is easy.

  • Part your hair into four parts. (I know it’s tedious bu worth it)
  • Apply product to the outskirts of your hair.
  • Continue to apply conditioner to parts within each section
  • Make sure conditioner is evenly distributed

I would not recommend(.)

I mean I am a firm believer that conditioner period is best placed on wet hair. The same applies for deep conditioner as well in order to obtain the best benefits. (Wet = Damp)

The Take Down

Now is the moment that we have been waiting for the take down. This means that you have almost reached the end. While you are taking down her hair you can just gently run your fingers through her hair and feel the smoothness of it. Now all products work differently for everyone. I just happen to like this specific deep conditioner at the moment. I loved the effect that it had on my daughters hair and the moisture is mind blowing. This process is just as simple as it sounds. At this point we are just taking out our protective style so that we can wash. There is no need to be rough depending on the protective style you did it should be easy. I decided to do the two strand twists because they are quick and easy.

Washing with my right

This is the best part I get to feel the outcome of using this product on her hair. I always tend to wash 2x. I guess you can call it an old wives tale. When you wash your hair the first time you are only lifting the dirt. The second time is to get rid of the dirt that was lifted 1st time around.

In the End

I am normally a stickler for sometimes trying new things. I am really glad I tried this product. It was actually something that I was looking for. I have always struggles with moisture when it comes to my daughters hair. Now with products like these it’s a lot more manageable and less time consuming. I let her hair air dry to see if the moisture was still there and it was. I’m definitely a fan this would be considered one I would come back to.

What is a Deep Conditioner?

These products are more effective than the average conditioner. Most conditioners are the same as the shampoo not really thick but a more of a thin substance. Deep conditioners are known to be much thicker and they either come in liquid or a paste.

“I am so head over heels for this hair and scalp mask made by cantu.

Does clean hair matter much?

Well of course!

The surface has to be clean in order for the deep conditioner to do it’s job. Deep conditioners are used mainly on the outskirts of the hair. It’s main purpose is to soften hair while mending any flaws.

De-tangle Me Please

I know that this is the very last thing that you wish you were doing right now. On the other hand let’s face it, it’s a must especially if you have girls. I would suggest that before you start this process you grab yourself a big tooth comb (prevents hair breakage), less fuss. Anyways I saw it more beneficial for our sanity if I detangled her hair after I applied the deep conditioner. Starting from the ends comb each section out. You may see some hair entangled in the comb but that is normal obviously.

Infinity protection

Being as though your going to have to walk around with this in your hair, you might as well be comfortable. I mean who wants all that crap on their neck, really? So up we go into a protective style allowing the deep conditioner to really get into your hair. Brace yourselves because you going to be sporting this style for about 10 – 30 minutes.

Productive Mornings

When you think of morning regime what comes to mind. You may be thinking you beauty regime right. A lot of people refer to morning regime mainly as beauty not accompanied by getting dressed of course. That portion had been completed the night before.

There are a variety of different regimes in which you can do. Mine consist of cleaning.

Why?

In the mornings I like to have time for myself. Being able to clean and make sure that my home is in order helps me and my family to relax better. It’s considered to be therapeutic.

Each morning it is always normally the same, believe it or not structure plays an important role even as your and adult. I have heard people say that they believe this not to be true but it is.

  • Wash Clothes
  • Wash Dishes
  • Clean Kitchen
  • Sweep

Wash Clothes

Yes I do wash clothes early in the a.m. My husband calls me “The Washing Zombie” because I am normally up around 4 a.m.

However washing a load in the morning can eliminate the time you lose with your family. Yes it is a tedious process so the sooner the better. Even with a family of 5 I am constantly washing this helps me get ahead.

Wash Dishes

I am one of those moms that sometimes get extremely tired. I have been struggling to gain sleep for quite some time.So when my kids drift off to sleep I sometimes follow.

I have tried to be consistent in washing my dishes at night but sometimes I result to mornings. I will rinse my dishes but still leave them till morning. I find that if I do wash them in the morning it is easier for me. I am able to move quickly and collect any dishes that may not have been placed in the sink.

“My husbands glass for example”

Every night he gets a cup almost like clock work. He will then use that cup for the remainder of the night, in the morning I get up grab it and wash everything at once. Sometimes doing the same thing can be tedious, my mornings allow me to switch things up based on my mood. Also just doing double the work is just to time consuming.

Being a parent you learn to manage you time to be more efficient. Using common sense and thinking smart.

Clean Kitchen

Oh yea I must have forgotten to mention that I have titles on my kitchen floor. The real big bully ones that are just simply out to ruin my life.

Yes those are the ones

Well they accumulate a lot of dirt from the heavy foot traffic around the house. I’m not quite sure how they get so dirty being as though we do not wear shoes in the home.

But that’s neither here nor there but simply for another post. I make sure that my kitchen is clean because for some odd reason that is always the first room to become dirty throughout the day. Which means constant cleaning for me. Or so I thought, when I started to get up and clean my kitchen it the morning it became easier for me to establish a pattern.

Getting up in the morning didnt seem so bad. Now I get up in the morning clean and then I clean again in the evening. This eliminates the amount of time I spend in the kitchen.

Cleaning the kitchen actually pertains to really cleaning the kitchen. Wiping down everything, making sure that everything is in the correct place.

No it does not have to be extremely neat, tidy, or perfect. It just has to manageable for you.

Sweep

I am normally a vaccum mom, but being as though I am an early riser I have to rely on a broom for most of my cleaning in the a.m. I normally sweep all the rooms in my home not just my kitchen. It makes no sense to sweep one room when the others need to be swept as well. That would be just making double work for yourself and we don’t want that.

This is where it becomes just self explanatory, but keep it clean.

Vaccum

I vaccum it make sure that I am absolutely sure I have not missed any thing. Whether it be in a crack or corner I know that I took all necessary actions to eliminate the dirt and dust.

Mop

Finally, when I get here I know that it’s almost me time. You know that little time that you do get to yourself. I make sure that I mop all of the floors to ensure that all the dirt has been lifted and that the floor is actually clean.

If you dont feel that the floor is clean you could in fact create new mop water and clean the surface again.

I believe this to be a great morning routine. It allows me to focus on some of the main things that are important. Think of it this way how would I accomplish mopping while my 1 year old is around. Not likely it would just become more harder for me, if you have to stress this than it’s to complicated. Complication needs no company.

Make life easier not harder.

What type of morning regimes do you have?

Whoooooo’s Up

Guess who’s up again, this is beginning to be an ongoing thing. I would be telling an untruth if I said th at I am okay with this. At the same time I’m kind of wondering why am I up exactly? I never have the exact reason why, maybe it’s not for me to know but simply to go with the flow.

Night timefeels like a time to get away. Not for me because i’ve become a worry wart. I am starting to feel like now when I do wake up I feel so overwhelmed and uneasy. I dont know why that is either I dont have any extra stress other than the typical life issues but nothing to dwell on.

Believe in or not this is very common in woman. The anxiety part, and sometimes it can be overwhelming at times. All you can do is push through.

Now let’s be clear anxiety is not like oh she’s going to have a melt down. Of course not jeez, but how ironic is it that people really do have that perception of people with anxiety. I guess there’s a person for everyone. In this case that absolute crap and that is no where near the case.

Anxiety

Intense, excessive, and persistent worry and fear about everyday situations.

This is me in a nutshell but then again who doesnt have things like this going on. You mean to tell me I’m the only one of course not. If people do endure things like this some choose to keep it a secret where as other like me would very much love to tell you my story.

One Of Those Days

I’m having one of those days where I just want to go go go. Literally I feel like I’m losing my mind. My 10M old is sick and constantly cries all though when she first became sock she didnt cry as much.

Now I feel like every other hour on the hour she’s crying. In some cases there is nothing you can do. This is one of them after you do everything that you could possibly do. After giving your child a remedy you have to literally wait it out and make sure that they are okay.

The anticipation of waiting does not take that long. I think it’s just all in your head. I have always hated sick days because then I feel helpless as if I am not able to help my child. In reality I am helping her by staying by her side until them remedy kicks in which ever solution you may have chosen.

Embracing Separation Anxiety In Kids

I literally get this all the time why cant you go to work at a 9-5. Not that its anyone else’s concern. I will fill you in on a day and life of me, with 5 year old attached to me at the hip. It doesnt get any closer than this.

Believe you me I didn’t think that this was reall until it happened to me. Typical, right I know we all say that at least about one thing.

What is Seperation Anxiety

Normally referred to a condition in which a child  develops and sense of fear and nervousness when they are away from home.

Signs of Seperation

Some of the signs that we may see will appear to come off as crazy and absurd but to a child the reason in valid.

  • Clingyness
  • Extreme or Sever Crying
  • Refusing To Do Things As An Individual
  • Violent Temper Tantrums
  • Refusal To Go To School
  • Failure To Interact In A Healthy Manner With Other Kids

My Experience

My daughter tends to throw tantrums. Not just any tantrum but she really goes in for destruction and literally becomes sick from crying. Normal of course not, at first when the crying began I thought it was simply her not getting her way but we soon saw this to be untrue as well. She will never leave my side if I am around then you better bet she is not that far behind. She refuses to go to school. When she was attending school she would cry and scream for hour yes hours. I didnt know what to do so we seeked help. So now I am a stay at home mom that homeschools my 5 year old. I dont mind spending time with her but half way through your going to be a little overwhelmed. How do you prevent that from happening.

#momlife #hardworkingmom

Treatment

In most cases the over all method would be to utilize what is called therapy or the other term known as psychological counseling. This process allows for your child work with a therapist to reduce seperation anxiety.

Question

Does anyone else deal with seperation anxiety. How do you get through it.

Sleep and Co.

Why does it seem that all of the sudden nap time has some how become harder for me. My 5 year old always fights me to the end. I dont know what it is, why not take a nap there are plenty of adults that would jump at the chance. Lets take a little sanity vacay who cares if it’s for an hour or two.

I recently started to notice that she would stay up all day and then crash around 6. Here’s the problem bed time is bed time and that’s at 8. So the dilemma hear is that she’s barely getting any sleep.

What Can You Do

There are a lot of different resources out the that can help with that. If you do a little bit of digging you can find loads of things. I know I know pinterest right? This is a large community where sharing is what we do.

  • Lay With Your Child
  • Have a Schedule
  • Be Firm
  • Use Natural Remedies (Tea)
  • Read a Book

Laying Down

I know this may sound strange but for all the above reasons children tend to sleep better around there parents. There can be a cause or maybe not, for instance my daughter is afraid of the dark so laying with me helps her get to sleep easier.

Schedule

Let’s be honest we all know that spare of the moment and kids do not go well together. You cant just sparaticaly say hey nap time. Your kids going to look at you sideways. If you start make sure you enforce this add it into their schedule. This will help them get into the habit because they know what comes next.

Be Firm

Somehow our kids sometimes have the upper hand in situations. They use their charm to try to milk the cow so to speak. You have to make sure that what you say is law. Standing your ground will let your child know you mean buisness.

Natural Remedies

This always helps and all it takes is a hot cup of water. Tea is good for the body and mind. If you want to calm your child think “Tea”.

  • Tea
  • 1/2 tsp of Honey
  • Sweetener (Optional)

The tea can be any tea that you desire. If you have a specific purpose then find a tea that matches. Make sure that it is safe for your child. I always rotate between either chamomile of green tea. You can never go wrong with either or.

Read

This is probably the best part for kids learning about the world above and beyond. Although your child may not be sleeping but they are being productive and working their brains. Working with imagination sometimes fueling sleep. Also I hear reading is an awesome method to get your child to sleep.

Every child is different and maybe you have a neat tip or trick as to how you get your little one to sleep. I’m interested in hearing all of the different approaches other parents use.

But Before You Go

Question

When you are having a hard time trying to get you kids to sleep, what method do you use?

Bullies In The School

How many of us have experienced some kind of bullying amongst children whether it be our own children or some one else’s. I tend to see this a lot and it really bothers me although I know that they are just kids I can’t help but wonder why they would want to bully others in the first place. In this case it’s not so much about why but how are they able to bully with adults being present.

Image result for signs of bullying

This is an ongoing problem in schools everywhere not just a general area. Most schools have chosen not to tolerate it while other schools tend to look the other way so to speak. My daughter attends a nice school where they teach a variety of different languages. She loves school and talks about nothing else literally. As of late I have seen a dramatic change in her when she arrives at school in the mornings. She is way less talkative then normal and she seems down not the normal motivated little person that I see everyday.

Is My Daughter Being Bullied

Image result for bullying

I mean to any parent that’s a hard question to ask yourself because the next question is almost like how could I not have known this was happening. It’s okay it’s not your fault sometimes when there is a lot going on we tend to overlook things not intentionally but it happens. Try not to beat yourself up about this the only question that should be on your brain is how can I help, prevent, and stop this.

I happened to catch some things that were odd to me, but if you see a difference in your child or something that would lead you to believe they may be being bullied. Don’t overlook the signs if they are there.

Signs of Bullying

There is a wide variety of signs that your child could display from bullying other than verbally expressing it. There is no one that knows your child better than you, and you can tell whether or not they may be acting strange. I just want to make you aware that there are other things as well so don’t just limit yourself to one thing.

Signs

  • Lack of enthusiasm for school
  • Stomach Aches
  • Headaches
  • Hanging with a different crowd
  • Trouble getting sleep
  • Crying
  • Dramatic emotional reactions
  • Less Family Time
  • Withdraw from electronics

All of this may seem like nothing but just looking at this list I can pick out at least two of the actions being the ones my daughter displayed. What should I do now, address the situation of course. Everything starts from the top and works it’s way down the line.

Image result for bullying

If your child is in fact being bullied at school I would start with the school

  • Speak to your child’s teacher
  • Address issue with administrators
  • Contact the school board

Sometimes when you talk to the teacher at times it can be swept under the rug or overlooked. Maybe the teacher is unable to handle all of the children within his care without help. Then the solution to that would be to get a volunteer or a teachers aide.

If you go to administration you have a chance of actually being heard and getting you issue across. Or maybe what you say will fall on deaf ears, you must always expect the unexpected. I’m not saying to just go straight above their heads, at least give them a chance to fix the issue. If nothing changes and in fact may be getting worst then I would encourage you to contact the school board.

Question:

If your child was being bullied what steps would you take to ensure their safety while in school?

Why is my little crying

Photo by Ba Phi on Pexels.com

So my youngest daughters has been having these outburst sometimes she will cry other times it just feel like she is yelling. I cant seem to figure out why at first I thought hey maybe she’s just teething, you know the typical things. Now that time has passed and the change in the weather she has a new reason to cry because now she is sick.

I absolutely hate and yes I know hate is a strong word but I really hate colds. I dont really get sick thank goodness for that but my girls do and then it’s time to become super mom.

Image result for kids with colds

What is the first thing that you do when your child gets sick. Everyone’s first reaction is to give them motrin, zarbees, and or tylenol. Then it’s the wonderful spontaneous trip to the pediatrician or aftercare.

Now this is where its gets semi complicated for me. I dont like hospitals or doctors offices but I understand the complex need for them. Medication for me is another downfall. On my end I dont like to take medication because although it claims to help it only causes issues later on down the line. In most cases things become overlooked because it’s the easiest way. Why not try natural remedies to help you depending on what you have.

For that we all know where to go pinterest am I right. Or we tend to do research so that we can better understand for ourselves as to what can and will work.

But first lets have Tea

You see pinterest is like a platform for all the amazing wonderful things the world has to offer. People like me use it more often than others just to find different things. No I dont just search for natural remedies, gosh.

So what would be some good natural remedies for just a change in the weather common cold

  • Ginger
  • Tea
  • Peppermint
  • Honey
  • Cinnamon
  • Onions

Onions

Just wait and hear me out about the onion don’t get your layers in a bunch. When I was a little person and I used to get colds I would take a long tube sock and put an onion inside. Call it weird but the onion actually helps with the fever almost like a magnet.

Everything else is just natural and the most commonly used by people in general when you get a cold. In my opinion yes this is just simply me saying well I prefer natural over anything, any day. The risks of having a cup of tea has less health risks. Now if you are really sick and it’s not a common cold then you should take your good old doctors advice.

So because my daughter has a cold i am going to give here little noses to help bring her fever down, wrap an onion around her little leg (not too tight), and give her some green tea to soothe her. I know everyone does things differently but if something works for not just you but your family as a whole I say go for it.

Question

When your little gets sick what do you. What is your routine?
