Calathea

I have always admired this particular plant but where do I begin to tell you of what drew me to this plant in the first place. I generally came across this plant due to my first purchase of a rattle snake and I suddenly became intrigued. Generally around the time that the sun goes down these beautiful plants fold up, almost as if they need sun to survive. Interesting enough this plant is one that requires shade.

As my love for plants grew so did my collection it became a mission of mine to collect them all. I found at this plant in a nursery not far from me, this was a little odd being as though I had been looking for the same plant online. Only because when I went to the same nursery previously and they didn’t have it. I know just an up and down roller coaster of disappointment and yet I finally got my very own. So it was worth it for me and fun.

The purchase was just the easy part

Lighting

You may hear some say that indirect light works and or shade, but I have learned the hard way that shade is best when dealing with these plants or even low dim light. When I put them in indirect sunlight it burns my leaves and gives them a burnt crispy leave which just looks awful.

Don’t Overwater

Watering is simply the best part because it allows for your babies to grow, but sometimes we get a little to happy and tend to over water our plants. This is the case for me I am very heavy on the watering side and so now I want from the bottom. These plants do not need to be watered everyday but every week keep in mind moist not mushy.

Fertilizer

I know that there may be a great deal of fertilizers out there but I mostly rely on the “Jobes Houseplant Sticks” This is so much easier then remembering to fertilize each and every plant, as if the watering’s wasn’t enough to remember.

Care Tips In Advance

Humidity

Living in a place that doesn’t provide enough humidity for you plants can suck you are actually going to lose more plants then you save. When it comes to humidity pebble trays do in fact help, what is a pebble tray you may ask?

This is simply a tray that contains rocks and water, place the rocks in a dish and pour filtered water until it reaches just above the rocks.

You can also invest in a humidifier if you feel as thought the pebble tray is not doing you any justice, I originally had a 500mL humidifier trying to cover all of my plants. This was absolutely a no go and it did absolutely nothing for my plants. Searching for a humidifier invest in a bigger on for instance a 4 to 6 L. They may be a tad expensive for a good one but it is all worth it when you think of what you are investing.

Grouping is also another method for humidity, grouping a group of plants to improve the humidity.

Wipe your leaves

From time to time we may see white particles accumulating on our plants in most cases this is just dust that has been acquired throughout your plants stay. A little soap and water will do the trick but I recommend that you wipe your leaves daily to keep them free from dust particles.

Photography| and the Birds

As of late I have been giving it great thought as to what I would like to bring out of this situation. Being quarantined and isolated from the outside world other than the internet gives you a great deal of time to think. I have quite a lot of activities that I do in order to survive my motherhood stress. We all have those, but self care goes a long way. So if you don’t have any it would be best that you find some if not one. Photography happens to be one of them, because I am able to share the beauty of the world through my eyes. (lens)

Picture This

When I first began my journey in photography I wasn’t sure of exactly what I wanted to do. I mean he type of photography, I wanted to do it all and more. You know the beginner photographer idea ambush. As time went on I began to incorporate different things into my photography such as trails. I am a very outdoorsy person and I have a passion for exploring and observing new things that other may ignore. Then it hit me, nature and wildlife. I had been doing this all along barely noticing. That’s my wake up call right there.

Fast Forward >>

Here and now a days I sill love doing nature and wildlife but it would seem hat I have found a love for birds. I find their beauty astonishing with the ability to glide through the air graciously. The only problem with than it I do not have the correct type of lens to take the images that I want. The Lens Required would be 200-500 mm f/5.6 E Vibration Reduction Lens.

Take a Beat

Before jumping into something I very insistent on doing my research because I want to make sure that I get what I need for a reasonable price. I know that sometimes we tend to get over excited and ahead of ourselves but just breath we got this.

The Brand Isn’t Everything…

Is more better?

Not necessarily because there are companies that sells you crap for a low price. You could be getting a array of items and they can be default. When buying bundles I would highly suggest doing research on the company. Pay close attention to customer reviews and what other say about the product as well. I will admit tha I have purchased vivitar products and they work with my nikon d3400 and works perfect.

Here and now

So at this point I am feeling overwhelmed with all of this but I know that it is something that has to be done. I am still researching as we speak but it is out of the three listed. When I come to a solid decision I will definately let you know. Arrival and unboxing will also be posted!
