Coping

Have you ever gotten up and thought that your day was going to be so productive and fun, like nothing could break your vibe? I’m sure we have all had those days but one particular day was a game changer for me. I had been feeling very emotional for quite some time but I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me. I could tell you that I had a lot on my mind as I always do my thought process is never ending even when I want it to slow down. I don’t really have that type of luxury go figure.

Words unspoken, are the one’s that weigh’s the heaviest on one’s heart.

That day I woke up just like that, I remember thinking this is going to be a good day and I was in such high spirits. Just my luck it was anything but, I learned that I suffer from bipolar disorder. My world came crashing down, I mean I had heard of it but I never thought that I would have it. I wasn’t judging anyone or nothing I was just in complete awe, like really me? I didn’t really go through a realization phase it was kind of diving in head first asking how do we fix this. Truth is there is no remedy for it unless you take medication in which I opted out on. I’m not a medication taker and I barely like to take medication when I am sick. Cough drops and tea does my body just fine. Looking back on it now the signs were always there for me to see but I was always so wrapped up in helping and caring for others that I simply ignored me and my needs.

What is Bipolar Disorder?

Unusually shifts in mood, energy, and activity levels.

Lets me explain. Phases also called episodes, mood swings in which range from depressive lows to manic high’s. Mania episodes could include symptoms like high energy (bouncing off the walls not literally but close), insomnia, and loss of touch with reality. Depressive episodes could include symptoms along the lines of low energy, low motivation, and loss of interest in everyday activities.  Mood episodes can last days or months at a time and mainly.

Nothing Bad.

It’s nothing bad, but some people would think that this is something scary and it’s not. This can be managed if you are willing to take the time to understand yourself. In my case my mania’s are more current than my depressive state because I am constantly active. Everyone with bipolar is different, they are people just like you and I. This is a touchy subject for a lot of people but not discussing this is taking the cowards way out.

Self Realization

It took me a little to truly understand myself and I am still learning, I am not perfect. The greatest accomplishment for me would be to have the courage to tell my story and help other people like me or people that may have loved ones be better. Getting to know myself as a person took some time for me because I do have a tendency to be indecisive and that is no ones friend. I had a little trouble weening out the things that I like to do with the things that help me focus and enjoy. The things you find comfort in can be the smallest thing but just enough. Would you believe that I love crafts and being a creator. Photography and plants have also placed a stamp on my heart. That was the moment I started my real journey and managing my bipolar.

Each day is better than the next, you just have to breathe.

“Mania”
What is Mania?

Mostly described as a mood or energy level that is elevated above normal, but not so extreme to causes impairment. When I get my mania moments that’s when I get my best ideas I am my best creative self. I get so much done because it’s like my motivation just goes through the roof. I feel so energetic and it just seems as though my list of things to do grows with each waking moment. The downside to mania would be that it feels as though your mind is going like 80 mph and you cant stop it. My husband says that sometimes in my mania state I ramble like ongoing and it normally makes sense when you are listening. If you miss anything then you may never get the answers that you are looking for. Although to me when I am doing something or I write something while in my mania state somehow comes out so meaningful and passionate. Sometimes I surprise myself because it’s like how did I get my brain to slow down just enough to write an entire blog.

Sometimes I tend to forget things too because I have so much on my mind it’s like I had been sleep for a period of time and I just have so much to say, so much to do, so little time. My husband likes to refer to me as the white rabbit and I never understood why until I was diagnosed. I started to see things for what they were and suddenly things that didn’t make sense started too. He calls me the white rabbit because of my inability to sit still, I am always on the move. Sometimes I dance to get rid of excess energy. I have multiple positive outlets because even energy is sometimes overbearing and no one wants any negative energy floating around. When people say I wish I had your energy, I say trust me you don’t want this type of energy lol. My energy is nothing bad but it is a little to much to handle at times. Imagine sitting on a couch and all of the sudden you feel a burst of energy and it makes you want to get up and move. Sitting still makes you fidgety so you can either control it or get up and get moving. Even with that happening you still have a positive outcome for both.

The Downside

Each of us have at some point had to deal with depression whether it be a friend, family member, or yourself. When you have bipolar and depression the most random memory, thought, movie basically anything can send you on that sad cruise. Sometimes you may be able to avoid his royal sadness but sometimes she gets you. When I get in my depressive state sometimes I cry and then sometimes it strictly consist of me strolling through the house in my pj’s at 2 p.m on a saturday and a side of coffee trying to be normal.

Coming to Terms

I have come to terms with the fact that I have bipolar and that I am no where near being normal but instead I have this unique sense of creativity about me. Rather than thinking of this as something bad an non beneficial I see it as an opportunity. It’s almost like an algorithium if you want to call it that. When I am manic that is the best time to work work work and then fun. I don’t have the luxury that other have I am on a designated schedule that my body has chosen for me. Slowly but surely I am getting myself together and learning to be more productive on my good days.

Hate is a strong word

I am not the type of person who generally uses hate an awful lot but I do get a little discouraged with having this. I dislike my inability to make friends, trust people, paranoia, crying, and that how sometimes I cant control when I get my lows. I am still me but with a couple of flaws, we all have them. The key here is to understand yourself and then you will be better able to understand your illness.

Bipolar Marriage

Not all of this is bad I would say that within my marriage I have come a long way from then when I first found out until now. I’m not really sure how my husband makes it through my lows but I do really appreciate him beyond the moon and the stars. Sometimes when you get into a relationship and you suffer from bipolar it can have either a negative or positive effect. It all depends on how you want to go about it. I would say that my mania moments are his favorite he says I am such a social butterfly. Within that time frame it’s smooth sailing for whatever time frame, but he has also learned how to keep me grounded during my bad spells.

My bad spells are more along the lines of a normal meltdown but 3x worse. Sometimes it makes me want to lay around but I never get stuck in the bed. We don’t feel like normal people feel, believe it or not some people feel deeper than others in which makes us react differently. Have you ever heard the term of “It’s not the serious.” It really is and it is not like I can hide it I have been told since I was little that I wear my emotions. People sometimes ask me how is being married and suffering from something like bipolar disorder . It is a roller coaster for sure people always tend to want to be around for the good but never for the bad and that’s when you need them the most. If you can find someone that is there for both sides that you got yourself a keeper. I’m not saying marry the first guy/girl you meet that seem like they can keep their s*** together. Although this may be true I can say that I have never been divorced. I am not saying that I didn’t want to go sometimes because it just seemed so much easier but I didn’t because I knew that he loves me. Sticking through the mud with someone in their time of need speaks volumes. I mean who sticks around when they aren’t even sure which wife will be waking up beside them. He says that doesn’t really matter and between me and you I think he loves the variety. Weird right to each it’s own, you can’t help who you fall in love with but all that matters is that they love you back. If you are able to balance everything out and find a common ground then you will be okay. Compromise is the key to marriage but in this case it may take a little more. Working together, finding a common ground, and keeping others out of your relationship help’s as well.

Raising Little’s

You can raise children if you have bipolar it does not make you any less of a person or mom. Don’t ever let anyone else tell you an different. This mental illness does not cripple you it makes you stronger and able to endure more. If anything it teaches you your limits and what you are able to tolerate. I have not always had best run with the patience train. My kids do cut me a break because they understand what I an going through. I don’t lie to my kids because I want them to understand and to treat other people like they would like to be treated. Sometimes it is a task for me because like all parents I get overwhelmed by when I get like this I have my crying episodes. I try to keep my episodes from my kids but even that was hard, now I just go into a room by myself because I don’t want to upset them. They know but why subject them to mama’s bad day you know. So the hideaway seems to be working for me and right now that is the best thing that I can think of.

Distance Loving

I have had people that I have to love from afar because they do trigger my episodes sometimes which only means that they are toxic. I am okay with keeping people at a distance if it means that I can have my peace. Is it something that I wanted to do of course not but I do believe that toxicity is misery’s sister and I simply can’t have it.

Leave of abscence

I am sharing this story because I want others with a mental illness such as bipolar to understand that it does not make you a bad person. A lot of people tend to question why I come and go in and out of peoples lives. This is not something that I am proud of but my mental illness makes me that way as if being alone is much more better for me. In most cases you have to do what is best for you as well as your family and if that mean interaction then you better grab this by the horns. Do not feel discouraged there are a lot of unkind people in this world but it is up to you to stand up, stay passionate and teach them about mental illness. In the beginning I used to be ashamed to even utter the words bipolar disorder and now I make jokes about it that’s how comfortable I am with my illness.

Plants + Urban+ ME

Have you ever wanted to start you own indoor garden but never got around to doing it? For what ever reason you never got around to it let’s just knock that out of the box because it’s not carved in stone. If you want something then you have to be willing to sacrifice for it even if it’s you time. I have always had a love for plants but never had enough time for myself to even collect one. That was a real blow for me because here I am stuck in the house due to quarantine looking for an outlet and I am still am making excuses. The thought did cross my mind quite a few times prior to quarantine that I should start my own but again I had so much going on that I quickly forgot. I really became interested in plants because of the great health benefits that they provide. My daughter suffers from chronic asthma in the beginning being cooped up in the house started to have a toll on her health. We were going through quite a few episodes. So I started to research plants that better help the air quality in you home. To my surprise there was quite a few choices when it came to indoor plants but I absolutely fell in love with the “Peace Lily”. The next day I went out and got my very own and the rest is history. Over a period of time my love for plants have grown causing curiousity as it pertains to each plant causing me to start my own collection.

In this blog you will find

  • Plants that produce the most oxygen
  • Collecting plants
  • Budgeting

More Oxygen Please

Some people like the air quality that plants provide and then you do have some of those people who in fact are looking for those particular plants that actually provides the most oxygen. If you believe that there is a such thing that exist I would have to tell you that plants like these do exist. Looking for one that produces more oxygen well here goes nothing.

  • Snake Plant
  • Money Plant
  • Palm (Areca)
  • Chinese Evergreens

All or even just one of these plants will give you the results you are looking for. I literally have a snake plant in every room of my home to esure better oxygen flow all throughout my home. I would reccomend that if you are considering one of these plants, you start will the snake plant being as though they are so low maintnence.

  • Watering: Every 2 -8 weeks
  • Sunshine Vibes: indirect sunlight
  • Fertilizing: A couple of times during the spring time

It is literally that easy no string attached type of deal and this is a great first starter plant if you have one kiddo’s or two.

Collecting plants

Once you get into it then maybe you will even start to explore new plants such as urban plants in which comes in a variety of sizes and vibrant colors. As I started to see and learn about urban plants the more I wanted my very own to grow and study. Where could I search for urban plants if I am a beginner, I wanted to tackle this as easy and gently as possible. I came to the conclusion that maybe Etsy was a start, but as I looked on Etsy I realized that it wasn’t just the plant that people were selling but cuttlings as well. I’m no expert but I can assure you this wasn’t the road that I was willing to go because I was so new to this. So I started small, facebook marketplace had a wide variety and so I started looking into different plants. I finally became linked to this nice woman who provides me with all my urban plants. Some in which you would originally have to order, she even puts baskets together. Cactus’s, Succulants, Rare, you name it then she has it. I can admit that I was over the moon when I found her it was from there till now 53 and counting. So If you are looking for urban plants don’t give up they are out there, try facebook first.

On a Budget

If your like me then you are always looking for a good deal because you are a plant lover save where you can and binge where it is needed. Generally when I purchase my plants I do go to my connect but I also dabble on etsy as well. I finally learned about cuttlings and I have been having a blast planting new plants that I have never seen before. They are reasonably priced and if your willing to pay for shopping it’s a plant lovers paradise.

Go for the green

Still thinking on whether or not you should get started well here is the answer “Yes”. Don’t wait like I did to start on something that yo love to do. If it bring you comfort than I am all for it. During these trying times we do in fact need a little more self care time  and need to unwind rather than releasing your emotions elsewhere.

What was your first indoor plant?

Everything You Wanted to know about cleaning hardwood floors but were afraid to ask

Have you ever run into the problem of keeping you hardwood floors clean with little’s thrown into the mix? If you have hardwood floors then you are fully aware of the amount of time it takes to keep them clean. Within in my house there is a great deal of traffic and I try my best to prevent shoes in the house. Of course we are getting there but everything is a stepping stone I suppose. It almost makes you want to join the carpet gang for widely obvious reasons. Adding more wok to your workload is what you would be doing. I find that it is always more easier for us to take the easy route without having spend loads of cash when cleaning our homes. Sometimes cheap is not always the best solution. Trust me we are all on the same page here, but maybe mixing things up a bit will add variety. Just keep it in your pockets when it comes to going over board and buying products that you see when you are overcrowded in the walmart aisle by brand names. So here is something fun I am a clean freak of all things mom and I am okay with sharing. (no biggie we are all human). So I am always looking for easier more efficiant way to clean my home and as of recently I have had my head up against the wall when it came to getting my hardwood floors clean. After much trial and error I have found one of the best products that will save a mama’s life.

In This Blog Your Will Find

  • The best products for hardwood floors
  • How often should hardwood floors be mopped
  • How to clean hardwood floors
  • What is the best to clean hardwood floors
  • Best Cleaning Options (Products)

Best products for hardwood floors

The first up on our list is Bona this company was founded in 1919 originally based out of sweden an has quickly made an impact in the cleaning community. Specializing in hardwood floor care how could you turn away from any of its products. They sell a variety of different floor cleaning products but the one that I have used has proven useful yet a little pricey depending on where you go. This product honestly a good buy if it were not so pricey. It does the job and a damn good one.

Is Bona good to clean hardwood floors?

I would say yes because they are literally a company based off of this but sometimes everything that glitters aint gold. Looking at the solution and what it contains majority of their products are water based which is a plus for anyone. To each its own I always say simply because everyone has there own preference on products.

What does Bona do?

Provides a water based solution targeted at dust, dirt, and grime like most common cleaner, however there is no residue left behind. I ha no objections in this area simply because I have tried this product and would recommend to others. You are able to use this product for both spot cleaning and large areas. I wouldn’t expect all the dirt to be wiped away after your first time. Come on give it a chance and let it work its magic. Over time you will start to see your floors come back to life as it looses the residue.

Is bona safe?

I know that we hate wracking our brains asking whether or not proucts are safe. If your worried about the kids or your pets then take a deep breath because it it okay because this product is non toxic. I like to say made with families in mind because the products are non toxic and green guard approved as well. So rest assured your family is safe. I have 3 girls and they don’t seem to mind at all they just continue to play as if the floor was not mopped a couple minutes before,

How often should I clean with Bona?

This is relatively simple if you have loads of traffic rest assured you will only have to clean 2x a week. Now some people may say that this is to much, and others may say that’s not enough. Everyone is different maybe you require a bit more due to the size of your home. Don’t over clean you could damage your floors and dry them out.

Who says swiffer’s are dead

Some people would argue that swiffer has lost it’s touch but I highly believe this not to be true. There was once a time when I to was a swiffer owner and sometimes I still dable with their products. The swiffer line is made up of cleaning products and introduced in the 99′. This is what people like to call a “Razor and Blades” model in which provides you with the machine as long as you keep re-buying the pads.

Is a swiffer a mop?

Well right off the bat I would say no but then that would only be based on appearences not what the product can do. Judging by its unique design depending on the type pf swiffer you choose, you could have the best of both worlds. For instamce the swiffer sweeper gives you the luxury of both a broom and mop. Which is understandeable becasue would want to constantly go back and forth. The goal here would be more efficiant cleaning with less.

Will swiffer ruin my floors?

The answer is no there is no harm here just a ta bit of cleaning. Similiar to Bona the Swiffer is one in the same.

Which is better Bona or Swiffer?

Well bona has the ability to produce a further and wider consistancy when spraying the solution on the floor not that this really matters as long as the outcome is clean. Bona is quite expensive but look at what it can do, the swiffer is the cheaper choice but is no longer all the rave. want to save your pockets on this one go with swiffer.

Was a mop your first choice

Before I knew what I knew now then I wouldn’t recommend mopping your floor. I used to unkowingly mop my floor multiple time a day for the fear that it was always dirty and I ha two kids and a toddler on the move. This didn’t sit well with me, you see to me I saw It a cleaning but to everyone else It was simply pushing dirty water around. Literally my floors were not getting any cleaner than before I started.

How often should you mop hardwood floors?

Routine cleaning in place because if you don’t have a schedule than nothing will get done. For high traffic areas where your home see’s the most traffic I would say clean about 1 to 2 times a week. For the less utilized areas you are free to clean once a month.

What is the best thing to clean wood floors?

While most people love buying products because it is easy for them but there is an even cheaper alternative that some people don’t really know about. Vinegar, yes the number one cleaning solution if you cam stand the smell. 1/2 cup of vinegar dialuted with water will do the trick. I have used this method quite a few times in the past and even up to now.

Best machine for hardwood floors

(Retail Price at Home Depot $50 Walk In Only)

When I was first faced with this problem I was a little frantic because I didnt believe that I would find anything. The time frame that I would have to wait was just pure craziness and come to find out it was coming from oversees. Cancelled that plan and moved on, as I continued my search I walked into home depot and with that the best day of my life. I found a Swiffer Bissel Steam Mop. This invention has literally changed my life and I love using it. I find myself lloking for reasons just to clean my floors. Quite odd if you ask me but it’s addictive (lol), You have the best of both worlds because the pads gives you a sense of clean. Add a little team to the mix and it makes you feel like your floors couldn’t be any cleaner.

Do the pads still apply?

Yes, the pads are still a must with this machine but if you ask me they last longer do to the steam. I was worried taht this machine wouldn’t work or the pads would dry out really fast. The first pad I used I thought dried out but it didnt, I was able to accomplish an entire room. The pads are moist and will get you through the job at hand, all while having an enjoyable moment.

If all else fails ditch the mop

At this point it is safe to say that a mop just isn’t getting the job done anymore now a days and that’s okay. Don’t be discouraged while trying to find something that works for you everything takes time. Here are some suggestions of mine I hope they are useful. Anyone want to share how you clean your floors?

My Loc Journey: 1 Month Update

a Milestone Worth Celebrating

I don’t know about you but I am simply just ecstatic. As you know I embarked on my loc journey about a month a go now. First, going into this again I knew that it would be a bit tough to get into the swing of things again. I had my doubts but my focus was to make it to a month. That was my short term goal that I started with, and yes I started small. I didn’t want to rush anything or discourage myself in anyway.

Throughout this experience within a month I have learned a great deal on what works for me.

Retwist

I am particularly annoyed by the way my hair tends to look matted. So I have made it a point to retwist my hair every 3-4 weeks tops. This would allow for new growth to grow and be retwisted with my existing locs. It has proven useful for me so far.

Retwist 1 month

My occasional obssessive retwist

Some people say that it is bad to retwist you hair but so much when you are trying to loc your hair. Well everyone doesn’t always have the best of luck when it comes to locking. For instance before my hair started to even loc up it would occasionally untwist itself. This caused me great frustration but I pushed forward. Retwisting my hair more than most but wishing that my locs would stay and now they have.

Products

Diy Hair Overnight Mist

  • Witch Hazel
  • African Pride Oil
  • Water (Avoid for 4C Hair)

I soon realized that this remedy would not be the same as before. When I first attempted this and I sprayed the mist in my hair they immediately began to unravel. Of course I mean today of all days but of course it was okay because I had already planned to retwist.

By eliminating the water I prevent further frizz up unless it’s new growth of course. I moisturize my hair with just a mixture of oil and witch hazel.

Loads of Fun

This journey so far has been amazing. I have met a great deal of new people within the loc community. If you are considering the locs then I would strongly encourage you too. Locs is the best decision I have ever made again that is . (lol) I literally get up in the morning and have to do niothing but my girls hair. This is a win win for me and the kids.

Blogging With A Toddler

  • How can I be my best?
  • Scheduling

Have you ever tried blogging with a toddler? This is absolutely no fun for anyone let’s just be 100% on the same page. Then again this is what happens when you try to be productive without having all your ducks in a row. Have you ever heard the term don’t put all your eggs in one basket? Yeah sometimes when I have a lot of things to do I tend to mismanage my time. Take for instance me trying to blog while my toddler is up.

Being My Best

I know, I know what you are probably going to say nap time. See now we are on the same page. I am simply saying that nap time is both the worst and the best part of my day. I have what I would like to call a spontaneous crier she just randomly cries throughout nap times and the night. So I am constantly back and forth from babies room then back to my little blogging heaven. I don’t mind doing this but after a while it can become stressful. Sometimes if I get lucky as I have been for a little while (fingers crossed) then I can create fun and awesome blogs. Being my best means putting my best foot forward so here goes nothing.

Schedule’s Up

In order to avoid these types of barriers I simply have a structured schedule. On a normal day my daughter normally takes her name about 11 or 12, sometimes she fights her sleep. I am always willing to wait, because at the end of the day zoii needs a nap. If I stick to the schedule then I can excel. Having everything in order really helps me to stay on schedule and on top of things. I’m not sure where I would be, probably lost with my head in the clouds.

Anything is possible, when you believe

I know that in the beginning you may feel like you cannot accomplish this. Stop putting yourself down, you are your own worst enemy. Get excited, and motivated about what you are passionate about. Being a parent and working from home can be hard. We have to push ourselves to be better because when no one else is left in your corner all you have is you. So let’s get moving and figure out a way to be productive. Specially here and now with everything that is going on.

How do you work from home?

My 5 year Old Is Having a Tantrum| What’s Next?

In This Blog You Will Find

  • Tantrums of 5
  • Patience
  • Discipline Methods

Down Right Crazy Days

Today stared just like any other and everything was going smooth until my 5 year started the same old crap. She ever so often tries this temper tantrum crap with me and dad in hopes to get her way. I mean like what are the odds that this would actually happen. You have to at least admire her efforts.

Ugh Not Again

I feel like I keep going in circles with the tantrums. I know that they are reoccuring ever so often but my goodness. Tantrums for me are really emotional because I have all girls. 5 year old’s that throw tantrums

  • Aggression against both people and objects if not both
  • The tantrums tend to be longer
  • Not able to get back to a calm state

Don’t Freak Out

I know that when kids do become like this it can be very hard for a parent to not explode. In this situation you have to have patience. What they don’t tell you is that sometimes patience will not take that extra mile with you. You have patience probably all the way up to the moment you explode, then it’s abandon ship.

What am I to do with you

Most people don’t want to admit that their kids misbehave. There’s nothing to be ashamed of we all go through it. If each and every child was perfect what could we possibly teach them.

On that note what are some of the best options when dealing with tantrums? Now lean in this is on a need to know basis. Just kidding I try to refrain from spanking, this is the last resort.

  • Express the cons of their actions
  • Give Your Child a Verbal Warning
  • Timeout (I do at least 10 minutes, it normally takes my kids a little longer to wind down)
  • Punishment (Sometimes a day or more depending on what got them punished in the first place)

Don’t you think?

This is just a way to test your limits and to ensure that you are capable of handling something like this. You are stronger than this. In some cases I know that sometimes us as parents really do go through it. I want you to know that it is okay you are not alone. Parenting a 5 year old is hard nevertheless more than one children. Having structure is the best option. Make sure that when you are disciplining the kids you and your spouse are on the same page.

Quarantined Lazy Bones

But not for long

I don’t know what all this is about, but today I feel like just lounging around the house. It has literally been 2 days now and I feel like time has not moved at all. I think I am starting to be a quarantined zombie. I’ve been kept inside to long. I need an escape , an out of this whole motherhood shit storm. Being stuck in the house with a family of 5, and 3 girls as daughters i can sometimes get rough. I mean the pulling out your hair kind, what am I going to do type of situation.

When in despair yell into the air

My kids have a tendency to become overly bored in an instant. If we do not keep them occupied in some way (I love educational tech) then our day is pretty much going to be rough. We all have our little tricks to get our kids to be quit, especially if your a SAHM and Work From Home. Keep in mind that everyone is different so no judgments here folks. If there is nothing to do they generally begin to play, rough house, argue, and then the inevitable fighting. So I try to be productive and prevent that. Yelling is not a preference of mine, I would rather not here it. Where as dad on the other hand has the ability to ignore it. I’m over her like how are you doing that teach me. I know terrible right.

Cozy Socks and Sweatpants Please

I have been seeing a lot of moms dress up while at home with nothing to do. I would prefer a pair of comfy socks over heels any day. To each it’s own, you guys are still beautiful. I have literally been in this phase where I don’t feel like getting dressed up, I would rather be dressed down and comfy. I get up everyday ready for battle (lol) I just know that today is the day I will get food thrown on me. I have to be ready for literally everything. I am comfortable and messy I can admit, but that the finer things about me I guess. I know most people would be like oh no you need to get up and get dolled up, but I’m rocking the #quarantinedmomlook.

Cook if you must, You Must

The only thing that has not been lazy is my love for cooking, this is done with love no matter if your happy or sad. I have been trying to introduce my kids to a sugar free diet. It has been going great and I have learned quiet a few new dishes, and researching new mexican dishes to introduce. This is also a way I can spend time with my girls, because sometimes they go off on their own and play. I know it’s crazy but when they play by themselves, moms tend to want to interject themselves. (very common).

Quarantined vs. Sanity

I know that through this time things have been hard, if you have kids then you get my drift. The only thing that has been hard for me would be adjusting. Blogging has been my comfort through all of this, starting up my podcast, and being triumphant. This is what is helping me to stay sane at home with my kids. Being able to share with different people about my take on motherhood and real life situations. If you have something that will help you stay focused on then by all means proceed with that. Now would be the perfect time to get a lot of things done.

Ears Open Let’s Get Grown Up

Oh darling what shall we do with you…

Techy is my middle name

I know that this may not be your first choice, but when you have kids sometimes it’s good to just let loose. Nap times are perfect for whatever your into or just feeling that day. I am a huge fan of call of duty, it’s so much fun almost like getting out of the house talking to people from all over.

I’m not saying bail out

Now I know what you may be thinking this is just some sort of cop out to get out of sex. No and Yes, I know that we as woman are not always in the mood and rather than hurt you spouses feelings just redirecting is a better alternative. This quarantine can be about what you make it, me personally I am taking time to get to know my husband all over again. I want us to be able to connect on a different type of level, not that we already don’t but you get my drift.

I know that by now you are really going through it with your spouse. Not as an argumentative type og going through it but the more loving kind. Yes we are all adults the correct term for it is SEX. I’ve learned that being cooped up with my husband that’s all he thinks about. I’m okay with it but i’m not a bicycle ya know. SO I have come up with different things to do with your spouse other than sex.

I’m no Baby

Not That It Matters But Uh,

Call me weird but I have been pondering about something for quite some time. My daughter is 1 is she a toddler? I mean I am far from one of those moms that counts months. If you were to walk up to me and say my child is 46 I’m going to give you the blank stare. Yes I am one of them. Once zoii started walking I said that’s no baby and I started calling her a toddler.

The age of a toddler

Believe it or not this i a very common question in the motherhood community. Especially the first time moms so you and I, we are not alone. A toddler is a child from 12 to 36 months.

I prefer the easier way 1 to 3 years. So with that in mind my baby is in fact a toddler. It’s not a big deal or anything but this is a milestone for me. Becoming a mom of three I just knew I wouldn’t make it. I knew this wasn’t true but i was simply a thought. A common one I think that most moms deal with.

Expectations Tsk, Tsk

Now that we have established the toddler crisis, are you ready for what comes next? When your child turns one generally you will start to see them do a variety of things. If they are not doing them already.

Glitter, Sparkle 1

At this age you child should be able to

  • sit down without assistance
  • Crawl on both hands and knees (some may even be walking)
  • Pull themselves up utilizing furniture

Are you excited because I definatley am. Need I not say that maybe it’s best for you to baby proof your home. We do not want any sharp corners harming anyone.

Level Up

I don’t know about you but I feel like I just accomplished something great. Random thought it’s not like I haven’t been through this before. It’s just something about being able to relive it has me over the moon.

Loc Journey: Bye Bye Product You’ve Let Me Down

So when I first started my loc journey (a week ago let’s be honest) I was super excited still am. There is no doubt about that. Here’s my issue when I first started my locs almost a year ago prior to this time. I used the most common thing Jamaican and Lime Locking Wax. Although it wasn’t until after that I started seeing bad reviews about this. It lede to stop using this product but not so much the reviews but for a personal viewpoint. It was way to greasy and made my hair feel weighed down with guck. Also the smell was okay but not so much pleasant after a night sleep. I’m not saying don’t use this (but your pillows will thank me.) So this go around I decided to switch to up. I wanted something that wouldn’t be really heavy or greasy on my hair. So I did my research.

Just beyond

After doing a good amount of research I seem to have found something that works for me. Not to be confused as a product only for me.😂 Its really people out there like that, but you keep on shining. It has all of the necessities that I was looking for including that key component. Yes, moisture see we just agreed on something. As of recently I have found myself falling back into love with Cantu. Now they have a local line as well can you even begin to grasp that accomplishment. This is something beautiful I am actually totally stoked that they have taken this route.

Rolling Out

This product is a life saver I am currently retwisting my hair as I type. Now I know your probably like really and yes really I am a firm believer in blogging from anywhere. Anyway back to this awesome find. I have this thing about really sticky and messy hair products. This causes me to stay away from certain things but its okay I can live with that, but not without this. This has a funny texture but more along the lines of a more solid putty. Its doesn’t make a great deal of mess and can be shaken or placed in hand to observe.

Before the Tide

It was almost similar to this but more firmer. After I did my first go around of starter locs I used it and my hair came out beautiful. Unfortunately they did not stay in. Trust me we will address that later in another entry. However if you have not tries this product I suggest you don’t even waste you money on this. It causes a great deal of frizz and your locks will keep unraveling. You are basically stopping yourself from entering into your growth period. Now I gave this product the benefit of the doubt because I don’t listen to other people. I have to pass my own judgement and yes this is a thing that most if not all people do.

Not being a favorite of mine costing me about 5.99 in retail. It really is not worth the time nor effort. I am very disappointed because I had high hopes that they would redeem themselves. No such luck on my end. When it comes to hair in general you have to be very careful what you put into it. This is not something to take lightly. Love your hair and be you.
