The toddler Stroller Mystery Revealed

Have you ever run into a curb literally with a stroller?. well that would make 2 of us possibly more but hey who is counting. When I had my 3rd daughter my husband and I were given a stroller by family which was okay because we saved money and it was a good stroller. Not even a year and a half old but still manages as if it were brand new. Of course I didn’t expect this to happen an that I would be here looking for a stroller, here and now. Somewhere along the line the wheels began to lock up although they were not which totally through me through a hoop. For goodness sakes I can hear the machine asking me debit or credit. That extra step where they want more would you like cash back. I can see myself standing at the machine saying help me and stop suggesting. Strollers are pricey and it generally all depends on what you are looking for but just because they are specially made for. That doesn’t mean that another stroller which is considered basic can’t do. I know what you may be thinking we are in quarantine and this is very true but if you cant buy a stroller while helping the economy then what’s the point. Relax it’s mandatory for my sanity.

Make your lesson learned a reality

Back when I became a mom for the first time I was all for the easy and efficiant way to travel with a child. I became obsessed with the baby carriers because the strollers seemed to be to much of a fuss. They were big and bulky and not easily managed around corners or tight spaces. So I opted out and that when I realized I was oh so wrong. One day I went to go hang out at the mall for some quality time with mom and my little. Now any other mall I could have managed but she chose arundel mills. I was super excited about going to arundel mills because of the outlets and besides I was tired of being in the house. We arrive at the mall and as Im getting myself together I’m thinking like yes no stroller for me. I kept singing that exact tune all the way up until my dogs started barking, and my back started having spasms. Suddenly that whole me not having a stroller scenario to what the hell was I thinking. If it wasn’t torture enough that I was in agonizing pain to the point where I had to keep sitting down, my daughter didnt seem so light then (lol). If that wasn’t bad enough my mom was still shopping with me in the background giving dirty looks. So I guess I ruled out carriers from then on, when I had zoii I kept to this.

What makes umbrella stroller ages that different?

Now a days everything has a age limit to it and in this day and age not knowing could really cost you. Your are taking initiative and searching for a stroller let’s make sure it’s time well spent. Being as though my daughter is 1 now that really does not apply to me now. Let’s not stress over spilled milk if your a parent then you are either going through this. Some of us have already made the journey. when it comes to newborns we buy the strollers that appeal to us the most. Why is that because it has what you need of course the safety and protection that your child needs. I often hear some new moms discussing this in the baby aisles of stores in reference to prices. When it comes to something of this magnitude there simply is the factor of safety over money. Umbrella strollers should not be used with newborns in which is stating the obvious. I mean you wouldn’t walk our of the er and put your baby in an umbrella stroller. I need not say this but safety is a valid point. You could possibly start using the umbrella stroller around 4-6 months. Some moms may not even be comfortable with this which is very understandable. Being completely honest I don’t believe that umbrella strollers should be used until 1. Allowing you baby the ability to sit up rather than slouch.

Umbrella stroller weight limit

For most umbrella strollers the weight limit start at 35 lb and with that comes the sturdiness of the stroller itself. You want long term versus short it will save you money in the long run a well. The starting weight is very reasonable if you ask me but I still would not reccomend it for 3 to 4 months, this I am sure. The mount of weight will vary from place to place and some places even provide stoller’s up to 50 lbs.

Now with all that has happened with my stroller I am not looking for a stroller as of 2 days ago officially and that is a achievement I am proud to say. It was pure hell for me because initially I ordered from target , and can I just add I was in love with this stroller. I was like a kid waiting in the window to tackle the UPS guy. Yeah that was me the only problem here is that it never came. Little did I know target cancelled my order but put my other one through. trae bizzarre if you ask me, however I had the mind set that I’m not going to let this little problem fill up my swampers with rain so I pressed on. It’s funny how things come back around full circle I tried to stay away from target but I soon ran out of options. Being as though majority of people have been stuck at home or out and about at the stores getting things necessary like strollers. Many stores have run out and or lost count of inventory which is no fault of theirs.

Best Umbrella Strollers 2020

So as I was searching for a umbrella stroller for zoii I came across quite a few that were exactly what I wanted and at an awesome price. For me I was looking for something manegeable and non time consuming when unfolding. I am sort of a one hand mom and I love to multitask, so I always have to have a free hand. Comfy for my little one but sturdy enough to run errands, take walks, or just simply hang out mom or dad (1 on 1). Keep in mind that all of these strollers are between $100 – $200, even now its still a steal and the best part is that this stroller can grow with you child. Making you and the stroller section no longer friends you wont be seeing that aisle for quite some time. If you have double the trouble then your in luck I threw in a a double stroller under $200 bucks.

After the stroller storm there was open pavements

All in all after I was done pulling my hair from the online websites sending me in circles I got up early and set out on my adventure to find a stroller. It’s never the same when you are shopping online versus in stores. That comes with the territory of just ordering online because if it’s not right you have to jump through hoops to return items which sucks. After lurking in the walmart for all of 10 minutes which felt like 30 to an hour for s stroller no such luck. I still walked out empty handed but i still had hope. On to the next in which would be target for in store services. The stroller that I originally ordered off of target was about $185 plus tax, which I was okay with paying because I really needed and wanted this stroller. On a random day I walked in and found the exact same dream stroller for $99. I hit that crazy dancing lady meme in the aisle with not a care in the world.

Packing An Overnight Bag

A lot of people have said to me I am so overwhelmed because I am anxious for my baby but nervous at the same time. How will this process go, what should I bring for my hospital stay. That right there is the million dollar question. Everyone is different and so you wants may be different but your necessities will remain the same.

What Will I Need

I know what you thinking well what would you need exactly, what is an absolute necessity when it comes to Labor and Delivery. Don’t worry I am going to help you so that you aren’t one of those moms who buys everything. It almost puts me in the mind of the Luvs commercial you know “baby one and then baby two”. Okay but enough about that here’s what you will absolutely need.

Baby

  • Swaddle
  • Hat
  • Car Seat & Base
  • Blanket
  • 1st Day Home Outfit
  • Footed Sleepers

Swaddle

This is a blanket but not just any blanket, this is the blanket that moms absolutely love. Why is this you may ask? It allows you to cuddle your baby without physically doing it. The blanket allows your baby to feel as though he\she is still in your arms. (The cuddle method but without mom)

Hat

The hat is to keep the babies head warm obviously but also food for thought how do you think your baby would feel without one. Generally your hospital may even provide you with the colorful knit hats.

Car Seat & Base

This is of the upmost importance because your baby cannot travel let alone leave the hospital without one. The car seat and the base provides you child comfort while protecting your baby as well. Be very careful when it comes to your travel system you want safety so I encourage you to read reviews. Here are a couple of safe and affordable choices for Mom.

Yes, moms this is the best part aside from having your little one, dressing them up. We as moms get over the moon excited when we go baby shopping, I mean come on you get to dress up a little you that seems like loads of fun. A lot of people seem to think that this is not important but it is, we want our little ones to look there best for there arrival home to meet the family.

Footed Sleepers

These are moms best friend because who wants to deal with those pesky socks, and you want to ensure that your child is warm all around. We want to prevent having a sick baby.

Comfy socks

We all love that warm snug feeling on our feet when we are cold or just to simply utilize for movement. These are a must after you have your little one those warm socks will become your best friends.

Robe

This is not an absolute must but some moms prefer to have robes when getting up out of the bed, and some woman don’t. This is exclusively up to you as to whether or not you need this.

Outfit

Now after being in the hospital for days and days after delivering your little one you will be confined to your pj’s for a period of time, you will want to get out of them asap. These bad boys are worth every penny they prevent your breast from leaking, I mean who wants a messed up blouse. Think of it this way which is cheaper yet efficient, which way will cost you more money, right so we are on the same page.

Nipple Cream

This provides you with comfort for your girls, breastfeeding can be hard on a mother. Trust me you are going to want this. There are a different variety of items so check the kind that is a preference for you.

Here Are Some Good Choices

Snacks

We all get hungry during our overnight stay in the hospital and sometimes we have no patience. Waiting on a nurse can be tedious but some moms prefer this, having snacks on hand will cure those late night cravings.

Slippers

These are a neccessity being as though you will be traveling from you bed to the bathroom more frequently over a period of time of your stay. Walking on the bare floor can be cold and disgusting having slippers on hand can be very beneficial.

Heating Pad

We all need a little heat from time to time especially afters we have a baby our bodies will be moving around causing discomfort. Having a heating pad can give you comfort if you don’t like taking medicine, or if you are simply cold.

Becoming a mom is a huge deal, feeling secure that you have everything you need for your big day that gives you a sense of comfort and security. So being prepared is you best best to give yourself a peace of mind.

Zoiis Labor and Delivery Story

My Story…

Surviving My Pregnancy…

When I first found that I would become a mom again I was ecstatic on the outside but scared and nervous on the inside which to me is a common feeling. Mainly because it had been years since my husband and I had a child and now we were starting over. Although I didn’t have the most common symptoms woman have I would have to say that my pregnancy was fairly easy. I did have this weird thing though where I would wake up like in the early a.m. Mom’s I’m talking about maybe 2, 3 a.m, not getting any sleep and being a mom by day. I thought maybe it just was the pregnancy that was making this happen. Sure enough it was after I had my daughter my sleeping pattern went back to normal.

Weird Right?

Shifting Into Reality.

Around this time was when it really kicked in and I said to myself “I’ve got this I’m going to be a mom and rock this thing”.So we started moving in full gear to get ready for the baby. To see a person inside of you makes time itself stand still and for that moment your just frozen with joy and the comfort of knowing your little one will be here soon.

Name Games.

Okay when it comes to names I feel like my husbands name picking is off the wall. Prior to having my third daughter, we had 2 daughters prior. Our first daughters name was Zuri, I chose this name because it meant “beautiful” and I thought it was beautiful for a girl different and unique. Now this was before the name Zuri had blown up and become a popular baby girl name. When we had our second daughter and we were trying to find names, I was told that no matter boy or girl they had to have the same letter name. So for instance if I had a daughter named amelia, my second daughters name would have to be anna. The A’s are the obeservational focus here.

So anyway we went back and forth about baby names for a while all starting with yes, you know what the letter “Z”. We did narrow it down to about 3 names and I was determined to get my name through the cracks. “Zanovia, Zara, Zoey”, my husband wasn’t a fan of Zanovia and so we moved on.

We’re down to 2 Zara and Zoey and then I ask my sister in law what would be a good name. She’s like really into that sort of stuff she strives to be different in her own way. So she says she call me back and when she does she says Zanai. Where did that name come from it was her name and a Z in the front it was cool yet subtle it. My husband loved it and so goodbye Zara, and Zoey hello Zanai.

I know it can be confusing and it seems odd but when we got the news that we were having a girl I stuck with the decision to name her yet another “Z”. I finally gave in and let my husband name her with a twist of mine. Zoii with double II’s its simply different but a surprise.

Going Into Labor?

This was a normal day when I got up and went about my normal day. I got the kids up for daycare and school, I got ready for work and out the door we went. I got to work early and I was in a good mood and then later on I had starting having these pains. I wasn’t really sure what the pains were from but I pushed through until I could anymore. My seat was in the front of the building and my managers were all the way in the back.

Imagine that!

I managed to walk all the way to a coworkers cubicle and I was talking to her and she asked me if I was okay. I generally have a high tolerance for pain and so the pains would come and go and so I replied with a “Yes”. That’s when it happened, that contraction so painful it stopped me in mid conversation. Now my anxiety is kicking and I’m like oh my god I think i’m in Labor!

My managers come rushing and they were so awesome they made sure I was comfortable until my husband came. We finally get to the hospital and my mind is racing by the minute. Now were in the room thinking maybe it’s a false alarm, i get the exam.

Your 4 cm Dialated and She’s Coming!

Welcome Baby Zoii!

In less than 4 hours in what felt like forever I finally gave birth to my 3 daughter a beautiful baby girl. I seems like it was just yesterday when I looked at her for the first time. I relive that warm beautiful feeling every time I look at her.

Time To Go Home.

Baby Zoii got to come home after anxiously awaiting her arrival

Now I’m going to be a gentle in what I say but I cannot tell you how ready I was to get out of the hospital. I was starting to feel that I had been there for forever and I was ready to take my baby home to introduce her to the family. Being a 3x mom I had seen enough hospitals and I was so over the hospital food. So when I was asked are you ready to go I asked the nurse if she had a pen so that I could sign my paper work for discharge.

And So We Were Headed For Home!

Sharing Time…

We would love to hear about you own labor story and journey so please tag us in your labor post. Labor posts are always different yet beautiful because a journey is a journey non the less.

Survival is the Concept

There are an array of things that moms go through but none ideal as to what awaits them when the become stay at home moms. Not that this is a bad thing and majority of the time this is a choice in which a mom has chosen this route. She feels that their are more benefits vs. the way she has been currently living. When you become a stay at home mom just like any other job but without the SANITY in a sens.

Yes you gave up you 9 – 5 because:

  • You want to raise you children
  • Educate them in depth the way you want
  • Have more bonding time
  • Or you simply want to do you own thing and just be a mom

The reasons are infinite but with the pros you best bet is that the cons are not that far behind.

What does it mean to become a stay at home Mom?

We have already addressed some reasons as to why you may want or become a stay at home mom. On the other hand there is a bigger picture here.

  • Losing your identity. You were a bright and vibrant woman who always kept herself up now your wearing pj’s with banana nut squash on it.
  • Missing adult interaction: Not being able to hang put with your friends on you lunch break, Not really leaving the house unless you have to
  • Financial dependence on another: Having to depend on you spouse to obtain the finances that you may have
  • Answering unnecessary questions: What made you become a stay at home mom?, you don’t miss going to work everyday?

This is what you should consider when you become a stay at home mom, now if your like me you simply don’t care because this was a good decision based off of my family and income. No matter what your reasons are if you can get through this then you got it. Disregard the baby and yet keep moving, keep inspiring others when they ask “Do you like being a stay at home mom?”

I love it but that’s just me I have endured 2 if not all things listed above and I am steadfast about my decision, why because I am m e and what matters at the end of the day is my family.

How do you as a SAHM survive?

There are days when I just want throw the towel in and lock myself in my room but some of us don’t have that luxury and so we have to bite the bullet and deal. When I first started this journey I kept thinking to myself I cant do this. There would be times when I would call my husband overwhelmed and upset because everything was chaos. But once I got the hang of it I found that as long as I have a structured plan then my day would stop being so hectic. It’s really simple if I can do it then so can you.

Steps to How I Survive

  • Get you a game plan ready the night before….
  • Grab a little bit of fresh air take an outing…
  • Look for free things such as museums or the aquariam …
  • Exchange your number with other mom don’t be scared this can lead to play dates, social interaction for both you and your child|ren….
  • Exercise. …
  • Do something for yourself once per week (at least), engage in a want it’s okay you have earned it. …
  • Make the time you spend with your kids memorable

This also goes hand in hand with patience and I can honestly say that I lacked this very detail. I know that when I had my children I had to learn this concept really fast, kind of a sink or swim ordeal. I chose to swim because my kids and family mean the world to me.

Lacking Patience?

How can I be a patient mom is what I used to ask myself and each time I fell short even after I heard my first daughter it was smooth sailing. As she got older however I found that I was becoming extremely overwhelmed very fast. This is not a good trait to possess and so I decided that I was going to fix it because nothing god could come from that. It would just lead me down a road of self destruction. So lets figure out how we can be more productive in becoming patient.

  • Count to 10. (gives you a chance to step back from the situation)
  • Deep breaths
  • What would mom do? …
  • Weigh out you options…(How does this help?)
  • Take a break.
  • Laugh

Counting

Now when I say counting there is no right and wrong way to do this it’s as simply as it sounds but the overall outcome is that it works. It’s kind of like while you are counting you meditating, making sure that while you are counting you are also remaining calm.

Deep Breath…

Take a minute to step back from the situation and take deep deep breaths before just reacting this gives you time to analyze the situation, weighing the good and the bad outcomes.

What would Mom do?

Now be rational because you are a mom and your not just going to go off the rails and start throwing a tantrum. You have to be rational as if it was ever a choice. So ask yourself again “What Would Mom DO?

Find a Solution, Act on a Teachable Moment

Life’s lessons are what stay embedded in our children even after we are gone so embrace them with open arms knowing that instead of yelling you made the right decision as a MOM.

Weighing the good and the bad?

We all have choices but it’s the choices you make that will affect you forever. Make a mental list of the good and the bad and what would be your best possible outcome for the decision at hand.

Should I take a break?

Hmmm, should you take a break well geez let me think. A lot of people say that your a mom you don’t get or need breaks. A mom is sometimes discussed as an around the clock type job, you don’t have free time when you became a mom you gave that all up.

Well I beg to differ I am a mom of 3 and I take breaks if and when I need them. I’m not saying your having a bad day and the kids have drilled you down and you are on your last leg you just lock yourself in you bedroom. Simply ask your significant other if they can lend a helping hand. Or lay your children down for a map, I am a firm believer in naps. Why, you may ask because that’s my time to just be me not mom just for an hour out of they day. If you follow the tips i’m sharing then this may be rarely used.

Laugh out Loud…

We sometimes forget that we are all human and each of us has an imperfection somewhere but we are not as perfect as we may thing. We are in fact imperfect in a sense so In saying so things do happen, sometimes you just have to embrace it. Like your toddler sees his grandparents through a glass and runs into the glass. Although you may be scared that they are hurt you have to laugh because it doesn’t occur to you yet how the glass was not seen.

-Laughable Moment
